Scan Maritime provides marine consultancy services within the UK and internationally. Based in Southampton our staff includes qualified master mariners and a chief engineer. In addition to ISM and ISPS services Scan Maritime also has the in-house expertise in areas which complement and enhance the core business.

Services that can be supplied include:

Ship Inspections

We are nominated nautical inspectors for a major Flag Administration, carrying out annual safety inspections of its vessels that visit the UK. We are also called upon to assist at detentions and casualties.

With this expertise and previous experience, performing surveys for all types of ships on behalf of hull insurers, we are well placed to carry out independent ship inspections for owners and operators.

Audits

Scan Maritime has a history of providing effective audits of both shore based activities and onboard ship. We also have extensive experience of performing second party and internal audits as well as compliance audits. With an auditing background and working on behalf of Flags and other certification bodies, we have the ability to provide clients with an insight as to what third party auditors will be looking for. Other successful endeavours include providing management audits on behalf of a P & I Club and other key clients.

Reports are factual, detailed and in plain English. Once a report is issued we are available to discuss any issues that have arisen during audits thus ensuring that they are fully understood. If requested we will work with the client in dealing with these issues in a practical and effective manner.

Management System Consultancy

Having operated a safety management system successfully for a number of years as well as providing advice on management systems to numerous other companies, we are well placed to provide meaningful management system consultancy. This can include a full review of the management system for an existing company, the drafting of type specific procedures for new ship types, or preparation of a bespoke management system for a newly established company.

In all cases we establish what management system is most appropriate for the end user and encourage the utilisation of suitable tools in the process, whether they are maintenance systems or fully electronic system procedures.
